Yvonne Elliman became famous during the 1970's after being discovered in London by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice who offered her the role of Mary Magdelene in the smash hit Jesus Christ Superstar. Elliman continued in the role when the musical opened in Broadway.
With the success of Jesus Christ Superstar and two solo albums under her belt by the age of 21, Elliman then met up with Eric Clapton, who invited her to sing back up on I Shot the Sherriff. This led to her recording six more albums with Clapton as well as touring with his band.
Then in 1978, Elliman was handed the song If I Can't Have You, which was to be part of a giant, mega-million selling album titled, Saturday Night Fever. Elliman rode that wave until her early retirement in 1981, when she settled down in California to start a family.
Now back in Hawaii, Elliman is testing the waters again for what fans have been requesting, her long awaited come back.
